Top 10 absurd supported Kickstarter campaigns
There was a moment when you could put any crazy idea on Kickstarter and still find some open minded people to back you up. However, in an effort to actually help creativity and discourage pure laziness, a set of new rules has been enforced recently. We are going to take a look today at some of the most absurd campaigns that have actually been supported.
1
Potato salad
Out of laziness or perhaps curiosity, Zack Brown decided to get his project funded on the renowned platform. But don’t think about something revolutionary in terms of science or gastronomy; no, this guy started a campaign to raise $10 in order to make a plain potato salad. The last time we’ve checked he raised almost $10,000 with a few days left until the countdown.
3
Invisible panties
We guess it’s every girl’s dream to feel absolutely free and party all night in the club, even in those “special” days of the month and some guys had the crazy idea of creating a pair of invisible panties. While this particular project did not raise a lot of support, it ended up with 6 backers and a total of $130.
4
Pirate pancake griddle
We all love our pancakes with a good cup of coffee and some orange juice in the morning but what if the delicious treats had a pirate flag on each side? Well, the Pirate Pancake Griddle gained a lot of support and ended up raising almost $18,630. People who paid the whole $93 even got their own models while the other had to settle for a file to print with a 3D printer.
5
Writing dumb stuff in the sky
Some campaigns make you wonder if they are real or not, but we assure you this one is. One Kickstarter enthusiast managed to raise around $7,000 in order to hire another guy with a plane with the sole purpose of writing dumb stuff on the sky. “OMG I’m flying” is just one example.
6
Infographic posters on Squirrels
Who doesn’t like squirrels? Well, we believe Josh O’Conner and his team or “researchers” took people’s affection for these creatures to the very next level. They raised about $9,000 to crate inforgraphic posters backed by data gathered in Atlanta, GA on park squirrels. Backers that donated $30 actually got the poster.

Bring a Tardis into orbit
This is for all of those “Dr. Who” fans out there. A Kickstarter project managed to gather around $90,000 in order to put a Tardis into orbit. Where the project was abandoned or still ongoing, nobody knows because the official twitter page hasn’t been updated since February.
